Photovoltaic Solar Water Pumping for the Conservation of Grassland and Farmland in China, a demonstration project completed by Dr. WANG Hao, has won him and his team the Global Human Settlements Award of Green Technology Prize. The award ceremony was held at the National Museum of Bogota, Colombia's capital city on 11th Aug, 2014.
Funded by the Asian Bank, and supported by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), Swedish National Development Agency (Tillvaxtverket) and China Domestic funds, the outcome of this demonstration project has been widely applied with prominent effects in the Inner Mongolia, Qinghai Province, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Tibet Autonomous Region. Members of the Global Human Settlements Award Committee, including Canada's former Minister of Environmental Protection, former Chairman of Executive Committee of UNEP etc. spoke highly of this technology with their praising remarks as: "The solar energy water lifting system promotes innovation and practice of renewable energy technology, which help realize efficient utilization of water resources, repair grassland ecosystem, increase income of farmers and herdsmen, decrease greenhouse gas emission, promote sustainable development of rural areas. More importantly, this project, under the leadership of a group of experts with different technical expertise and different backgrounds, reflects in itself collective intelligence and wisdom."
