The 19th Beijing Taiwan Science and Technology Forum with the topic of “share new opportunities and cooperation for the future” opened in Taipei on Nov 9th, 2016. The forum focused on innovation and cooperation of high tech industry and abstracted cross-strait nearly 400 people in science and technology to attend.
On the forum summit held in the afternoon on Nov 9th, Dr. WANG Hao gave report on the topic of “First Exploration of Building Sponge City”. Dr. Wang analyzed connotation of building sponge city and introduced the main method of water pollution control. He pointed out that aimed at the complexity and specialty of problems faced by China, President Xi proposed “building the sponge City of natural accumulation, natural infiltration and natural purification”. Sponge city reflects comprehensiveness and systematicness, including water quantity, water quality and rainwater utilization. That is to say, we should decrease peak of water quantity, reduce pollution of water quality and use rainwater.
According to the three contents of sponge city, we should diagnose problems of “quantity, quality and utilization” of the sponge city and make overall evaluation for existing problems. As a result, we can provide basic knowledge for building sponge city, including diagnosing city flood, the source and accumulation of pollutants and rainwater utilization and control.
